Today when i checked my mini-aquarium i see that a lot of the death that i saw in the aquarium has been revived by the birth of many small seed shrimp, and rotifers. I discovered  that the aquarium also has many plant like organisms that i currently couldn't identify. They occupied the bottom of the aquarium near the plankton. Also my midge died sadly but I identified another newborn midge that is a lot smaller than the last. The oscillatoria seems to be doing fine because of its size and sequence of growth, I believe it will be in there next time I check the mini-aquarium. All in all life seems to be regaining and is making a bounce back
As i checked my mini-aquarium today i saw that some of the life in it has died. I see many seed shrimp and cyclops corpses. My midge has grown tremendously in size. The snails are roaming the aquarium as usual. The oscillatoria has also increased in size.

In the lab Tuesday i discovered that my aquarium had become home to many different large organisms. It was apparent that they had been eating well because many of them have grown to be giants. We learned earlier in thee week that the professor had added a meal pellet for the creatures in the aquarium. I have concluded that the micro-aquarium has two large (compared to the aquarium) snails, a midge which is a developing species of fly, an oscillatoria, a styllaria which is a kind of aquatic worm, many cyclops and seed shrimp, rotifers, and round worms. There are also lots of small microscopic organisms that are hard to make out.

In looking at my micro-aquarium this week i discovered new creatures. I found a long snake-like organism feeding on the plant life. I also found another snake like organism but this one had a head like a tube-worm leading me to believe that it was a carnivorous worm or some kind of parasite. I found out that the egg that was in my aquarium that i thought was a snail spawn was indeed correct. In checking the spot where i left the egg it was opened and nearly gone most likely from an organism eating it. I found the snail, larger than other creatures, slowly slithering through the soil at the base of the aquarium. There were more small shrimp like animals crawling through the foil-age. Many of the creatures in there had also gotten larger and abundant.

1st day of mini aquarium

In my botany class today we created our mini aquarium. I chose to use the water from container 7. We started making the aquarium by getting a small glass container that was glued at three sides, we also got a base to hold it and a top to cover the aquarium. We then put our choice of which water from a specific place to put in our glass aquarium. Like i said before i chose the water from container 7. We added a minuscule amount of soil and top water. To keep the creatures alive in the container we also added water plants to create oxygen. We then took the container and looked at them under a microscope to compare what we found in every individual container. I discovered small round, what look like shrimp, nematodes, sifters from one of the plants that were added to the container, and what i believe to be a snail in its egg case still developing.
